Is This Normal? Finder · Poop and pee
My puppy pees every few minutes. Is that normal?
By Dr. Steve Pelton, DVM
The short answer
Young puppies pee a lot, but peeing every few minutes, straining to make small puddles, or blood in the pee can mean a bladder infection. That's a call today. A puppy who strains and produces nothing at all may be blocked, and that can't wait.
Why it happens
A bladder infection makes a puppy feel like he has to go all the time, even when there's almost nothing there. A blockage is the opposite problem: he truly can't get it out.
