Ten puppy rules for kids
Read them out loud with a grown-up.
- Let the puppy come to you.
- Pet his back and his sides, not his face.
- No hugs, no kisses, no squeezes. Treats are his favorite hello.
- Sit on the floor to play. Don't pick him up.
- Let him eat his dinner in peace.
- Let him sleep. Sleeping puppies are growing puppies.
- His crate is his bedroom. Kids stay out.
- If he nips or jumps, be a tree.
- If he walks away, let him go.
- Wash your hands after you play. Poop? Get a grown-up.
For the grown-ups
A grown-up watches whenever puppy and kids are together. The full grown-up rules, the Be a Tree practice and the worried signs to watch for are in puppies and kids. You can print the rules for the fridge from Puppy Rules for Kids. The reading style in the site menu also has a For kids setting that turns the whole site into kid mode.
General education, not veterinary advice. Your vet's plan for your puppy comes first.
