Is This Normal? Finder · Body
My puppy only has one testicle. Is that normal?
By Dr. Steve Pelton, DVM
The short answer
Both testicles usually drop early, and most are down by the first vet visit. If one's missing, your vet will keep checking. If it isn't down by about 6 months, it probably won't come down on its own, and it should come out at the neuter, because one that stays inside is more likely to cause trouble later.
Why it happens
Testicles start inside the belly and travel down early. Sometimes one stalls along the way, and after a few months it usually stays put.
